FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Is ayahuasca a drug?

If we go back a few years in time, we can discover that previously the name of "pharmacies" as we know it now, was known as "drugstore". Even today, in English-speaking countries, it is still easy to find these same pharmacies with the name "droguería" which means drugstore or whose translation is "pharmacy". Now, the basic definition of a drug refers to: any plant, animal or synthetic substance that can be used to treat a disease, calm a symptom or modify a chemical process in the body for a specific purpose. Under this definition, ayahuasca naturally complies with this because it will make changes in the body and alterations that will lead the organism of a human body to solve physical, emotional and even spiritual problems.

On the other hand, we all know that a drug as such can cause effects such as dependence, damage of various kinds and even withdrawal symptoms in those who consume it. It is then that under these parameters ayahuasca does not enter, since it does not generate any of the effects mentioned or attributable to any harmful substance. And for this reason, this would be the difference that most clearly separates it and therefore we can safely express that beyond a simple or harmful substance on the contrary, when we speak of ayahuasca; We are talking about medicine.

Is ayahuasca right for me (as a remedy or cure)?

The ayahuasca experience is always extraordinary. It has positively influenced the lives of many people. It has cured many forms of depression, addictions, attachments, anxieties, etc. Ayahuasca shows people their inner beauty and that of the cosmos through deep, enchanting and emotional visions.

Shamans or healers know that the ayahuasca experience is naturally directed by the 'spirits' or even 'the spirit of the plant'. It is worth mentioning that many of those who consume it do not experience unusual visions or emotions, but rather nausea and/or purification of the body, since ayahuasca is a medicine that also detoxifies different parts of the body such as the liver, stomach, pancreas, etc. It can even be an emotional or physical purge or both. This means that Ayahuasca works one way or another… It is also not uncommon for the healing effects of Ayahuasca to come later after the session is over.
